A strong injection of capital in a variety of stocks lifted the VN-Index of the HCM City Stock Exchange to 455.12 points, a rise of 1.45 per cent.
Total volume of the day's trades rose to 34.7 million shares, up 23 per cent from Monday, worth a value of VND826.5 billion (US$42.4 million).
Advancers outnumbered decliners by 212 to 33, of which 35 stocks hit their ceiling prices, including Beton 6 (BT6), up VND3,000 to VND69,000; Sao Mai Construction (ASM) and Hoa Binh Rubber (HRC), up VND2,500 each to VND59,000 and VND56,000, respectively; and Construction Co No5 (SC5), up VND1,800 to VND38,600.
Many big stocks on the southern market returned positive today, such as Bao Viet Holdings (BVH), the Corporation of Financing and Promoting Technology (FPT), finance conglomerate Ocean Group (OGC) and Sacombank (STB).
In Ha Noi, the HNX-Index rose 2.88 per cent to close today's session at 114.99 points.
Nearly half of the 345 listed stocks on the northern market matched their highest prices, of which securities stocks [WSS of Wall Street Securities, KLS of Kim Long Securities, APS of APEC Securities] and stocks of Song Da Corporation [SD1 of Song Da No 1.01, SD6 of Song Da No 6.06, ] contributed much to the rally, with a total rise of about 1 per cent and 2.5 per cent, respectively.
Value on the northern market increased 65.8 per cent to VND663.7 billion ($34 million) on a total volume of 33.7 million shares.
